In 1994, Usha Martin, introduced Hyflex Conventional Crane Rope in the Brand Name Hyflex-4, Hyflex-6, Hyflex-8, Hyflex-18, and Hyflex-35. However, with increasing criticality in application the ropes required higher abrasion resistance, longer bending fatigue life, higher breaking strength, greater resistance to crushing, and reduced wear on sheaves / drum. Catering to these requirements Usha Martin with help of its research facilities designed a Powerform compacted rope using individually compacted strands. During the compaction process the outside diameter of the strand is reduced and steel moves into the empty voids between the wires within the strand. The resultant rope has a very high steel fill factor and consequently a high minimum breaking force for any given diameter when compared with a conventional rope. After successfully achieving the quality testing results, Usha Martin manufactured and supplied new crane Rope in the Brand Name of Powerform 6/6P, Powerform 8/8P, Powerform 8PC, Powerform 18, and Powerform 35/35P to its customers.
